STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARAGE

One of the most corrupt garages in all of Nova Scotia. had my van delivered there after hours. Called the front the next day to tell them what is wrong with my van. I had said the oil filter housing broke and was blowing out oil. They then called me 3-4 hrs later telling me it is the oil filter housing broke. I asked a price they then said $700 for just the part then 3-4 hrs to replace it. I said I would call them back later. I called them back and said I ordered the part and wanted to know on price to just install. After paying just 102 off amazon they proceeded to tell me 7-8 hrs to install. After already telling me 3-4 hrs the day before. I said I would be removing my van from there garage and asked what I owe right now. So for just them to look at my car after I told them exactly where to look they charged me 166.99 to do nothing with my van. So I will be contacting BBB and having them contact them. NOT IMPRESSED STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARAGE!!!

Not a good experience today. Nice staff but I will not go back here. I brought my car in for an MVI and I was told the brake pads would pass but they would not pass the vehicle unless I had a full service completed on the front and back brakes. Going to be a 3.5 hour job at a rate of $85.00 per hour + HST. This made no sense to me so I immediately went to another garage who checked all the same areas and they said the brakes will pass. They said it made no sense to do a full service until I was ready to replace the pads which will likely be by the end of the year. Seems like I was being asked to pay for extra services that were not appropriate at this time and holding the MVI as ransom. So they got my $40.00 but they have lost a customer forever - hope it was worth it.

Just to clarify after the owner has written their response - the vehicle was taken to a reputable garage immediately after leaving Chester Service Center and the MVI was completed and awarded. The mechanic went to the trouble of bringing me into the garage and showed me exactly what needs to be done once I eventually decide to replace the pads. The servicing that was being recommended at Chester Service Center was not necessary to pass the MVI. Long story short - I am happy with the service I got at the second garage and will continue to use them.

First of all I would like to say that I rarely leave reviews or feedback on anything whether it be a restaurant or an Amazon purchase. When I do it has to be something that has been exceptionally good or catastrophically bad. In this case it’s the latter but I will let you draw your own conclusions.

While turning on an uneven gravel drive I scraped the bottom of my 2011 Town and Country minivan. Soon after I thought I saw something dripping from underneath and thought it might not be a bad idea to have it checked out so I booked an appointment with Chester Service Centre Limited on July 6th, 2023. It took them 1.5 hours at $85 an hour to put it on the hoist and discover that there wasn’t any leaks. When I called to pick up the van they told me that it needed a brake job; front pads and rotors had to be replaced. I found this rather unusual as Canadian Tire had replaced the pads and rotors on Sept 27th of 2022 and because we don’t drive the van that much during the winter. I could not see how it would have gone through a set of brakes in 10 months and 5000 kms of driving, it smelled a bit fishy. We took the van back to CTC with our receipt from the service in 09/27/2022 and were startled to learn that the front brakes were in excellent condition, of the 12 mm's available on a new pad they still had 10 mm left which would be consistent with 5000 kms of driving.

Originally, I was just going to ignore all this and pat myself on the back for avoiding a costly brake job, but then I started to think that I am probably not the first person that has experienced this sort of thing at Chester Service Centre and probably won’t be the last, so I felt I had a responsibility to tell my story. As for what's going on there I will leave that up to you to decide from the facts I have presented above.

My experience with Terry and this garage is over 10 years. In that period of time he has serviced 3 different cars, helped us out innumberable times with various issues, and sold us a car. We have always found their service to be OUTSTANDING and their fees reasonable.

Thieves, either the tow truck driver or owner went into my truck and stole tools and other work gear / personal belongings. Long story short my vehicle was impounded and these guys were the ones to tow it and impound it, I don't know how you guys thought you'd get away with it but... you didn't.

Most honest shop I’ve ever been to. I brought my green 2005 VW Golf to them. When the little green Golf left the shop; it was running better than ever. Big ups to Mike and the rest of the team at Chester Service Centre. Best in the business.
